A man of few words, Dr. Shasi Anand Sridharan believes in and lives by the precept, ‘Actions speak louder than words,’
He is the Vice President of Kalasalingam University since 2015. Since then, he has several credits to his portfolio including spearheading the team to achieve the highest grade in NAAC in October 2015, and accreditation of all eligible engineering programs by NBA and ABET. Having had work experience previously at Bank of America, he understands the importance of involvement of industry personnel in the teaching learning process at the university level and therefore, introduced engineering programs offered in collaboration with industry such as IBM, Siemens, Synopsys etc., at the university. He also motivates faculty to work on innovative and socially relevant research projects, which in turn, help students in project-based learning for hands-on experience. He was instrumental in making the university truly multi-disciplinary with the addition of law, nursing, allied health programs and commissioning a 360-bed multi-speciality hospital within the campus, laying the foundation for medical education in the near future. Under his leadership, the university has grown leaps and bounds. Kalasalingam University is ranked 35th in the country in the NIRF Rankings and is ranked among the top 800 in the world by Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings.
Dr. Shasi earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from University of Florida, and his B.Eng. – Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering from National University of Singapore. He is also an active member of the education panel of several organisations including CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), Young Indians and SICCI (South Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
