Dr. Francis Somerwell is passionate and committed to work uplifting a low income population. He has rich experience of working in over 40 countries including most in Africa, Asia and South America with of 18+ years predominantly in Healthcare, IT, Risk management, Health insurance. Wherein he has been actively involved in executing a wide array of healthcare activities including alternative health risk mitigation products. He worked for UN, World Bank, GIZ and at present consulting for Unicef in various Indian states in reduction of IMR/MMR, and other developing agencies, he is also involved in managing the Sickle Cell Anemia program for India tribal population.
At present he is working as a COO leading Indian operation for NIDRIVE Japan, a company leading its operations from Tokyo.
He has PhD in Iris Biometric Technology, masters degree in Economics, Project management professional, Business Administration, Risk Management, Computer application, Community Health Financing, he is enrolled for additional phd in health economics focused on “alternative ways to meet health risks for low income informal sector”
Designed & Developed many projects for UN, World Bank, ILO, GIZ, DFID on healthcare integrating Biometrics, IT programs, some of the programs are in primary healthcare, health safety nets, Malaria controls, safe mother-child healthcare, prevention of STD and HIV programs in many African Asian countries. Developed capacity building programs for mission hospitals to run successfully. Involved in developing healthcare programs for community based, cooperative based, self-help group based programs on business models.
He has comprehensive experience in designing and implementing “quality affordable healthcare for low income people” for micro-insurance programmes, micro-finance groups in many developing countries. Proficiency in strategy building for new product launch, positioning & brand management by developing & leveraging strong relationships with key decision makers.
He is acknowledged for his frequent participation at various international conferences for World Bank, UN, Unicef, GIZ and many other global development agencies, he is also a visiting professor in universities in USA, Europe and India. He has additional consultancies in Energy sectors, solar, fluid management, etc. He has been a consultant on Data Science and Data confidentiality management (HIPAA law). He has designed and implemented IT systems for hospitals, energy sector, mining industry, insurance claims processing and for other corporate health fund management.
