As a Tamilian and a proud Indian American, she started her professional journey in Chennai, India, and continued to be part of the Information Technology industry after moving to the US. Chitra, has over 22 years of experience in Information Technology. After graduating in Computer Science, she started her career as a programmer in Chennai, India. Since moving to the US, she has worked both in private and public sector. She was an IT consultant for a few years during the DOT.COM bubble. After moving to Sacramento, she took the opportunity to join the public sector. Since joining the State of CA, she has been with various departments serving in variety of roles and responsibilities to participate and lead several modernization initiatives. Chitra, as a technologist, leverages technology to drive and strengthen business value. She has had a great journey serving the citizens of CA and continues to enjoy the same purpose at her current role with the DMV. She strives to be an inspiration to anyone, who wants to start their career or want challenging opportunities to join the State of CA Workforce #work4ca.
Outside office, Chitra likes to read news journals on American Politics, watch World War related documentaries, and historical fiction. I’m currently a resident of the Greater Sacramento region and called it home for over 23 years. She continues to look for opportunities to support our young female talent to join the IT industry as we need more women, who bring diverse viewpoint to make a difference in our communities.
